Welcome to the Wicked Grips custom shop!
The purpose of the CUSTOM SHOP is to give those of you wanting something truly special.. TRULY CUSTOM... an option for your 1911 project.
Each custom set of grips is designed & crafted from the ground up... no list.. no "menu" of premade options to choose from.
Custom work on this level demands a certain level of commitment from clients.. in patience... and in cost. This option is not for everyone, but meant for those individuals wanting something designed especially for them... meeting their needs... and then turned into reality.
Lead times are estimated, and are currently running at 9-12+ months from start to finish for inlay themed projects... much less for non inlayed exotic woods. We offer other options for those not inclined to wait... please see our "GRIPS FOR SALE" page! For Damascus grips.. the current lead time is 18+ months.
Cost: Prices start from $275 and rise accordingly, based upon the clients desires, and budget, for the project. Cost is based upon the materials requested.. the level of detail in the art designs.. and the amount of work needed to do the job RIGHT. We dont cut corners here... and it doesn't leave the studio until it meets our standards.
Materials: We work in top grade woods.. rare species... Damascus steels... and other exotics. Inlay options include faux pearls.. faux ivories & horns.. silver.. gold.. gemstones. Plenty of choices for the widest ranges of budgets & artistic needs.
Fit: Each set is handcrafted... and continually test fitted during the process on our frames to assure the best possible fit in every dimension, angle, bevel & hole. This method takes time... we will not rush a project thru, thus the lead times for this level of work.
Finish: Our finishes are based upon a compromise between looks.. and functionality. We dont just make them for looks.. they must fit & function... and last for generations. We wont accept less.
